Mr. Jacobs 7th Grade History Review

On Thursday 5/23 we will be taking our final test for the semester. Since I was not your teacher for the
first half of the school year, I will only be testing you on what I have personally covered. This means
Chapters 14-20 in your textbook

The first place you want to look to study is the PowerPoint we have been using as our review for the
Final. You can find this on my website (mrjacobshistory.com) in the File Cabinet Link

The second place you want to look is any vocabulary that we have had. Some of the words will be in the
list below, others will not. Expect to see them on the test. What to study in general for each chapter
follows:

Secularism (what does it mean)
Difference between Medieval and Renaissance art
Realism (What is it)
Utopia (what does the word mean)
Johann Gutenberg (Who is he and why is he important)
Censor (what does it mean)
Linear Perspective (who discovered it)
Leonardo da Vinci (who is he and why is he important)
Michelangelo (What works is he known for)
William Shakespeare (who is he and why is he important)

Chapter 18 (The Reformation)
Martin Luther (who is he, what did he do, why is he important)
Indulgences (what are they)
John Calvin (who was he)
Predestination (what does it mean)
Henry VIII (who is he, what did he do)
Annulment (how does it apply to Henry VIII)
Spanish Armada (what is it and why was it sent to attack England)

Cartography (what is it)
Technology used by explorers (What did they use and how did the instruments work)
Vasco da Gama (where did he sail to)
Christopher Columbus(where did he sail to)
Magellan (where did he sail to)
Circumnavigate (what does it mean)
Hernan Cortes (who did he conquer)
Moctezuma (who was he the leader of)
Colonization (what does it mean)
Francisco Pizarro (who did he conquer)
Smallpox (what is it)
Missionaries (who are they)
